The successful adoption of an innovative digital reporting system has won the West Gippsland Healthcare Group a prestigious state award.
The group that operates the West Gippsland Hospital and other health care services was named winner of the 2024 Qlik ANZ Digital Transformation Award for excellence in healthcare.
It recognises the transformation of data management, reporting and decision making through the use of Qlik Cloud Analytics.
Activity based funding manager at WGHG Robyn Weeks said the system introduced in collaboration with digital transformation firm Notitia centralised data management and automated reporting processes to provide information at the fingertips that staff had never had before.
It has saved time and improved decision making for front line staff, clinicians and administration and gives department heads insights enabling them to make data-driven adjustments to their practices.
The work has led to positive changes and shown an exciting future for the organisation in digital health.
As an example, Ms Weeks said clinicians looking into chest pain were able to look at a treatment framework and matrix to identify possible gaps in diagnoses or education for staff.
"Instead of manually going through each case the results they now get from testing the files they need to look at, saving for clinicians"
Patient volumes, service disruptions and workforce resourcing are tracked in real time, alignment with funding requirements is ensured and managers can quickly identify trends and respond to operational challenges.
Notitia managing director Alex Avery said WGHG was among one of the best examples of digital transformation in Australian healthcare and has empowered the hospital to significantly enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
