The Neerim Rodeo returns this Saturday as the event continues to grow in popularity for locals and regulars to the rodeo circuit.
The event returned in 2023 after its COVID hiatus and the volunteer organising committee has seen the event go from strength to strength each year.
The Neerim District Agriculture and Horticulture Society committee is excited to deliver its seventh rodeo which organisers promise will be another another fun-filled family event featuring live music and the thrills and spills of rodeo action.
Live music was introduced last year and was popular among attendees.
When the gates open at 3pm, Victorian country rock artist Cush Ryder and his band will perform on the main stage until the main rodeo action gets underway at 6pm.
Other event attractions before the focus shifts to the main arena include a mechanical bull, lawn mower racing, carnival rides and plenty of trade stalls.The Vic Mow lawnmower racing will run from 3pm to 6pm.
Local chainsaw sculptor Paul Stafford will be returning with an impressive collection of his work and a live carving demonstration on the day.
There also will be lots of food trucks, market stalls and country clothing stalls, including the Ringers Western truck.
The rodeo will kick off at 6pm, featuring open bull rides, open saddle bronc, bareback, open rope and tie, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, and breakaway roping.
There also will be a second-division bull ride, saddle bronc and bareback. In the junior divisions there will be junior steer ride, barrel race and junior breakaway roping competitions.
Rodeo action will continue well into the night before the program wraps up between 10pm and 10.30pm.
For the first time this year, the committee has introduced Neerim Rodeo merchandise including trucker caps, stubby holders and bumper stickers available for purchase.
Gates will open at 3pm at the Neerim Recreation Reserve, Hamono Rd, Neerim.
Tickets are $40 for adults, $20 for children, and $100 for a family of four. Grandstand seating also is available for $75. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketebo.com.au and at the gate on the day.
The rodeo is a strictly no-BYO alcohol, glass free event.
There is no on-site camping available and no dogs are allowed.
