A teenager allegedly threatened to blind a person using a cigarette in an attempted armed robbery in Warragul on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the victim refused to provide a mobile phone when approached in Palmerston St.
The incident allegedly occurred between Smith St and Victoria St at 3.30pm.
The victim told police a male youth demanded the phone be unlocked and handed over or he'd put the cigarette in their eye and make them blind.
They reportedly refused, pocketed the phone and were slapped in the head.
The teenager was described as about 17-years-old with dark curly hair and wearing a white Raiders t-shirt. A second accompanying youth was described as Caucasian, about 16-years-old, with ginger hair and shirtless.
The duo may also be linked to an attempted vehicle theft reported in Bowen St at 3.25pm.
The vehicle owner reported two male youths walked down the middle of the road before getting into his unlocked vehicle. He yelled out and they left. Both were shirtless and matched the previous descriptions.
Also that afternoon, a handbag was reported stolen from a vehicle in the McDonalds carpark in Victoria St at about 3.30pm. The bag was recovered in Palmerston St with bank cards missing.
