Warragul Regional College was the big winner in the State Government's latest round of planned maintenance grants, with the secondary school set to receive more than half a million dollars in the November allocations.
Announced last week, three West Gippsland schools were among the latest recipients including: $564,744 for Warragul regional College, $176,217 for Lardner and District Primary School and $138,601 for Drouin West Primary School.
Education Minister Ben Carroll announced 78 schools would share in more than $21 million from the Planned Maintenance Program to undertake 79 maintenance projects between them.
He said the program ensured schools could undertake essential work in classrooms and other school buildings, such as fixing roofs and replacing windows, painting, and resurfacing floors, as well as some external works like improving pathways.
Works are determined by a rolling facilities evaluation process, which provides up-to-date information on the condition of schools to create a faster and more targeted allocation of funding.
"From a fresh coat of paint in classrooms to ensuring crucial emergency shelters are in good condition, this latest maintenance blitz will ensure all Victorian students have safe and modern learning spaces.
"We are making sure every single classroom is safe, engaging, and will complement the top-class education we are committed to providing," he said
