As the weather warms up, four local tips will offer free green waste drop off to help local residents clean up and prepare properties for the upcoming bushfire season.
Trafalgar, Lardner, Neerim South and Erica transfer stations will open the free service on specific dates, starting next weekend.
Baw Baw Shire chief executive officer Mark Dupe said "you can never start this kind of preparation too early".
"I would strongly encourage community members to make the most of these free green waste disposal opportunities and use the chance to do a little tidy up around their homes, ahead of the warmer months," Mr Dupe said.
Residents living in the shire can dispose up to three cubic metres of green waste for free, whether a property owner or tenant.
As proof of residency, those participating are asked to bring a driver's licence plus a rates or utility bill showing their address.
Trafalgar Transfer Station will offer the free green waste disposal over three days from this Saturday to Monday between 10am to 4pm.
Lardner Transfer Station will follow on Sunday, December 1 and from Friday, December 6 to Sunday, December 8 between 10am to 4pm.
Neerim South Transfer Station dates are Sunday, December 1 and Friday, December 6 from 10am to 4pm.
Erica Transfer Station will offer Sunday, December 1 and Monday, December 9 from 12noon to 4pm.
Acceptable green waste includes tree debris, branches, foliage and general green waste. The maximum size limit for a large branch is 30cm round and 1m long. No large tree stumps will be accepted.
To cater for different trailer sizes, residents can either drop off three cubic metres at once or in smaller loads over multiple drop offs. Green waste must be delivered in residential vehicles and trailers. Commercial vehicles will be charged at the standard rate.
