Show tradition spans five generations

As the Warragul Show celebrates its 140th anniversary this weekend, a local family will have a celebration of its own as grade two twins James and Lachlan Gleeson and their three year old sister Saoirse become fifth generation exhibitors at the iconic event.
In 1919, James and Lachlan's great-great grandfather William Robinson bought a dairy farm and moved to Gainsborough. The move by William - a baker by trade - set off the first in five generations of family Warragul Show exhibitors.
William was a proud farmer of not only cattle and attended the show and received great accolades for his wheat sheafs and vegetables. As a professional baker William was not allowed to enter any of the baking events but his passion for farming and produce saw him become a successful exhibitor.


"He had a real love for growing things," said his granddaughter Dianne
