Extension planned for Chairo
1 min read

A further significant extension, designed specifically for VCE students, is planned for Chairo Christian School at Drouin.
The development at the Balfour Rd campus on the town's eastern fringe is estimated to cost $4.4 million.

A planning application for the project, currently before Baw Baw Shire council, stated the building would provide a specific focus and improved and modern educational facilities suited to VCE level studies.
VCE students are currently dispersed across the campus.
Almost 440 students and 80 full time equivalent staff are currently accommodated at Balfour Rd in the middle school (years 5 to 8) and senior school (years 9 to 12).
Numbers are expected to increase to 450 students and 97 FTE staff next year.
A separate junior school is located in Lardners Track, Drouin East.
A new hardstand play area will be built next to the new facility as well as a sealed access for emergency vehicles.
The application to council states that the 203 car parking spaces already on the site exceeded requirements by a large margin.
Bus stops are also provided.
The Chairo school has operated from the 14 hectare site for the past 30 years.
