Celebrating community and companionship during Probus month

Originally Probus clubs celebrated the inaugural Probus Day on October 1, 2020 – in line with the United Nations Day of Older Persons, which is recognised worldwide. In 2021 and 2022, Australia and New Zealand celebrations of Probus Day grew, with communities and media recognising the important role Probus served.
Probus Clubs held a wide range of special events to showcase and rejoice everything their clubs mean to them. Monthly meetings became a festival of blue and gold. It became clear that one day a year is not enough to celebrate all that Probus does. With that in mind, since 2023 they celebrate Probus Month.
Clubs now have the entire month of October to celebrate what makes their clubs amazing.
Probus Month gives members an opportunity to celebrate what Probus is all about, it also creates awareness of Probus within the wider community.
For 2024, the Probus Month theme of "Celebrating Community and Companionship" resonates with many members who have found a sense of belonging within the Probus family.
What is Probus?
Probus is fun and friendship in retirement.
Probus provides retirees with the opportunity to connect socially, which is important in today's world.
Membership is open to anyone who is retired or semi-retired, so why not join the tens of thousands of Probus members across Australia and New Zealand.
Probus Clubs offer a range of activities including trips and outings for members to enjoy, depending on their interests, lifestyle and location. Probus Club members meet monthly, to enjoy the company of like-minded fellow retirees and listen to interesting guest speakers.
Make new friends, learn a new skill, explore new interests and hobbies - there is so much to choose from when you become a member of your local Probus Club.
Probus Clubs are non-political and non-fundraising and offer a built- in network of individuals who are who are eager to share their time, experiences, and companionship. Regular meetings, birthdays and events provide ample opportunities to forge new friendships and maintain a vibrant social life, all of which contribute to a healthy and happy retirement.
When you retire the friendships that are developed through working life are often lost. Probus is a great way to develop new friendships, to quote a recent Probus Club member "the day I joined my Probus Club, I instantly had 100 new friends."
