Savings on Drouin oval upgrade

A $2.5 million tender to resurface the Drouin Recreation Reserve oval has been awarded - significantly reducing the original $4.1 million project cost.
However, the predicted $870,000 savings will be directed to Drouin streetscape works rather than Trafalgar's second oval development.
Baw Baw Shire councillors awarded the $2,513,726 contract to Evergreen Turf Group at Wednesday's council meeting.
The decision was far from unanimous, the five-four vote showing a split of the chamber.
Whilst the project and tender gained strong councillor support, the removal of a specialised mower from the project's budget and how savings should be utilised were heavily debated.
