Our history
Snapshot of the past

A photograph of the Waugh Motors building in Drouin under construction in August 1952.

This building at 116-126 Princes Way still stands today. It houses three businesses, including Roger Manson Panels.
William Waugh built Waugh Motors after previously managing Russell's garage, which was situated in Drouin's main street. The garage was destroyed by a fire in January 1951.
At the time, the fire which destroyed the two-storey building, four trucks, a car and the residence of the Commercial Bank was considered the worst in the town's history. Damage was estimated at more than £25,000.
Waugh Motors was soon sold, with Brian Anketell commencing ownership on October 1, 1955.
Anketell Motors was appointed as the General Motors Holden vehicle representative for Drouin and district. It also had the licence to sell Bedford and Chevrolet commercial vehicles.
Mr Anketell had worked as general manager of G. P. Motors in South Melbourne for 15 years and had been with the firm for 20 years.
In 1976, the business was sold and became Roger Manson Holden Motors.
