Regional advocacy body One Gippsland has detailed a lengthy list of projects that need to be addressed by political parties and candidates contesting seats in the region at the May federal election.
Chair Nathan Hersey said they must have a clear plan that maps a path to prosperity, not just a path to transition.
Education, roads, ports digital and telecommunications connections and tourism head the list.
Cr Hersey said the focus was to ensure the energy transition was smooth and had ongoing benefits for Gippsland communities that ensured the region continued to be an attractive place to live, work and visit.
A $41.5 million expansion of the Warragul campus of Gippsland TAFE and $3 million to plan a Drouin and Warragul arterial road network were among projects One Gippsland had identified.
The energy transition to renewables was a key aspect throughout the plan that addresses needs for additional skills and education and freight road upgrades.
One Gippsland wants a clean energy skills and training centre established as well as expansions and upgrades of existing campuses and creation of an offshore wind community benefit fund and reductions in energy prices across the region.
Greater support for local government to repair and respond to disasters was also called for, with extra funding allocated including for repairs to infrastructure to better withstand extreme events.
Regarding digital connectivity, One Gippsland wants priority given to expanding coverage including for farms and for the business fibre connection zones to reach all major centres in the region.
Cr Hersey said the organisation had been actively engaging with the major political parties over the past 18 months to ensure the priorities and interests of Gippsland are well known, understood and supported.
He said the region was at the heart of a transition towards renewable and new energy sources and had abundant natural resources that can power the nation for years to come.
Gippsland is already doing the heavy lifting when it comes to nation building, he said.
One Gippsland represents the region's six local government councils, education, industry and Aboriginal bodies.
