Willow Grove petitions post office closure

Willow Grove residents have started a petition calling for the town's postal service to be restored.
The licensed post office was closed two weeks ago with residents told to travel to Moe 19 kilometres away to collect mail or have it redirected to the Trafalgar post office that is a trip of 16 kilometres.
They have to do the same if they wanted to post letters or parcels.
Resident Krystan Wyntjes said the post office in the town had operated from the now shut hotel/restaurant but the general store, which recently changed hands, was willing to provide the service.
However, Ms Wyntjes said Australia Post had not responded to the suggestion.
She said residents were angry at the lack of a response by Australia Post to their complaints and inquiries about the mail delivery service for their area.
"It is not returning phone calls, not following up on complaints and failed to notify those affected that the licensed post office was closing in the first place".
There are a lot of elderly residents in the town for whom it is is impractical to frequently travel to Moe or Trafalgar to collect or post mail and there were new residential sub-divisions being established at Willow Grove for its future growth, Ms Wyntjes stated.
She said farm properties adjoining the town were still receiving roadside mail deliveries but there was no indication Australia Post would extend that to the township.
