Where should new outdoor spaces be developed, what park improvements would you like to see and do you have accessibility concerns?
Baw Baw Shire is seeking the community's ideas, thoughts and feedback on parks, gardens and other outdoor recreation areas to help shape a new Open Space Strategy.
The strategy will guide how council manages, protects and grows its open space network.
Council is calling on residents to share their ideas online or at upcoming drop-in sessions.
The first drop-in session will take place at Civic Park in Warragul today (Tuesday) from 10am to 12noon.
Two sessions in Drouin will also be held this week at McNeilly Park on Wednesday from 9.30am to 11.30pm and Civic Park as part of the Drouin Craft and Produce Market from 10am to 12noon.
November will offer further opportunities, with drop-in sessions set for Trafalgar, Warragul, Yarragon and Longwarry.
Alternately, community members can have their say online for a chance to win a dining and spa or accommodation package.
Baw Baw Shire mayor Annemarie McCabe said council was future-proofing its parks to ensure they cater to changing needs and could be enjoyed by everyone for years to come.
"Baw Baw is renowned for its beautiful open spaces," Cr McCabe said. "It is also one of the fastest growing regions in Victoria. As our population continues to grow and diversify, careful planning and management is needed to ensure our open spaces and infrastructure meet the evolving needs of our community now and into the future."
"We want to hear from all residents - young and old and from every corner of the shire - to find out what they think about our existing open space network.
"Your feedback and ideas will help us find opportunities, address accessibility concerns, and let us know what you think is most important to improve the overall quality of our parks, gardens and outdoor recreation facilities," Cr McCabe added. "Your views will help us determine where new open spaces should be designed and developed for future use, and make sure that we're meeting community needs while safeguarding Baw Baw's natural beauty."
Community consultation is open until Sunday, December 3.
Residents can make their submission online at bawbawconnect.com.au. All residents who take part online will be entered into a draw to win one of five dining and spa or accommodation packages in the shire.
If you prefer to speak in-person, three drop-in sessions are listed above for this week. Next month will see more sessions at Trafalgar Farmers' Market at McGregor Park on Saturday, November 4 from 10am to 12noon; Warragul Farmers' Market on Saturday, November 18 from 10am to 12noon; Yarragon Craft and Produce Market on Saturday, November 25 from 10am to 12noon; and Longwarry market on Sunday, December 3 from 10am to 12noon.
Following consultation, the project team will analyse results and prepare a draft strategy. This will be presented back to the community for further input and refinement before its adoption by council.
