Water restrictions unlikely for Gippsland this summer
1 min read

Gippsland Water is confident there'll be no need for water restrictions this summer.
Managing director Sarah Cumming said the prediction was based on the region's water storages being at 98 per cent capacity, aquifers in strong condition and positive weather forecasts.
"It looks like storages will retain good levels over summer and well into the new year," Ms Cumming said.

The interconnection pipeline between Warragul and Moe also bolstered West Gippsland's water security, she said.
However, Ms Cumming said permanent water saving rules would remain in place and urged people to continue to use water responsibly, use outdoor hoses fitted with trigger nozzles and check for leaks around the home.
Despite weather forecasts, she said storages could fluctuate throughout the year depending on a variety of factors.
"We know forecasts are rarely 100 per cent accurate, including about rainfall, but the Bureau of Meteorology's current outlook gives a good idea about the year ahead," Ms Cumming said.
