Training program for accidental counsellors
1 min read

Participants in an "accidental counsellor" course at Warragul Community House last week gave their thumbs up at the end of the training session.
For those that aren't trained counsellors, it can be challenging to meet with community members who may be upset, distressed, sad, lonely or simply need someone to listen.
Accidental Counselling training offers participants techniques, tools and strategies to successfully support people needing emotional support while still within the context of professional boundaries.
Warragul Community House hosted 14 participants in a recent Accidental Counsellor training session. The day was facilitated by Linda and Evie from Elite Counselling and they made the day interesting and educational so that participants gained knowledge and had fun too.
The program is one of five training days funded by four local government councils including Baw Baw, Latrobe, South Gippsland and Wellington.
The participants in the group were from a number of local community organisations including Warragul Community House, Baw Baw Food Relief, Olivia's Place as well as some individuals.
