Already stretched parking in Drouin's central retail and commercial area has been reduced in preparation for the Live in the Park music concert in Civic Park tomorrow.
About 100 car parks on the northern side of Young St and adjoining the park, used by many workers in the business areas as well as shoppers, were closed during the week and will remain so until 5pm on Monday.
Young St, a major access road to many shops including both supermarkets, will be closed between Bank Place and the exit from the McDonalds restaurant drive-through from 8am today until 4 pm on Monday.
The road and car park closures are to enable portable buildings, including food and drink stalls, equipment and fencing of the area to house patrons to the concert that will begin on Saturday afternoon and continue into the night.
Paid parking for concert goers will be available the the Drouin recreation reserve.
The concert also coincides with the state election with the only polling booth on the northern side of the railway line at the Drouin primary school a few hundred metres from Civic Park.
Charts provided by Baw Baw Shire show that usual access to Coles supermarket and shops in Hope St and Hamp Lane will continue via Young St, between Sinclair and Hope Sts, and Princes Way.
However, those wanting to visit premises in Commercial Place, including Woolworths supermarket, will have to enter from the service road running parallel to Young St from Bank Place or the laneway entrance from Hope St.
