The West Gippsland Healthcare Group has received official accreditation of its health and safety standards for the next three years.
An assessment was undertaken by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards in August and confirmation of its renewed accreditation was recently confirmed.
WGHG operates the West Gippsland Hospital at Warragul, aged care facilities Andrews House at Trafalgar and Cooinda Lodge Warragul, and community health centres at Warragul, Trafalgar and Rawson and the Warragul Linen Service.
Chief executive officer Dan Weeks said a team of assessors spent three days inspecting facilities, talking with staff, volunteers and patients, reviewing policies and procedures and observing practices.
He said all involved with the group were delighted with the feedback from the panel that highlighted the teamwork, culture and collaboration by the organisation as strengths.
Mr Weeks said the accreditation results recognised the work and commitment of staff in their care for patients every day.
"It is a strong recognition of the quality of services and contribution of all staff".
Mr Weeks said the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards were developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare to protect the public from harm and to improve the quality of service provision.
The ACHS is an independent body licenced to assess the national standards.
