Suspicious fires investigated

Police hold concerns after five suspicious fires were ignited in Warragul and Crossover on Wednesday night.

They are seeking information on a navy blue Toyota Corolla seen near two of the fires.
The series of fires were reported between 11.30pm on Wednesday and 1.25am on Thursday.
A barking dog alerted a Brandy Creek Rd resident to the first fire at about 11.30pm. Police said a large pile of branches on the Warragul nature strip had been set on fire. A dark coloured hatch vehicle was seen driving slowly towards Warragul.
The second fire on an embankment was reported at midnight at the intersection of Gunn Rd and Bloomfield Rd in Crossover.
Responding to the fire, a CFA unit reported a navy blue Toyota Corolla parked near the scene. It left quickly when CFA arrived.
Police located three further fires on Old Telegraph Rd East. They were between Bloomfield Rd and Stolls Rd at 1am; between Stolls Rd and Gunns Rd at 1.15am; and, 300m east of Gunns Rd at 1.25am.
Coming into summer and warmer weather, police said they were worried about deliberately lit fires in the area.
Previously, suspicious fires have been reported in the Neerim and Neerim Junction area.
They appealed for residents to report any suspicious vehicles and, if possible, registration plate details to police.
