Storm battering

Gippsland took a mighty battering from last Tuesday's fierce storm.

Only a few pockets of the region were spared as the late afternoon storm that lasted only about 30 minutes swept through with winds as strong as 126 kilometres per hour and pelting rain.
Mirboo North dairy farmer Bruce Manintveld (formerly of Lardner) was killed when struck by flying roofing iron ripped from a shed on his property.
