Stolen car evades police

A stolen vehicle that evaded police in Lardners Trk early last Monday morning was later involved in a petrol drive-off in Newborough.
A police unit was following two vehicles travelling south in Main South Rd, Drouin just before 5am. Police said the two vehicles, including a white Mazda 6 and a white Holden Commodore, were travelling in convoy.
Police attempted to intercept the Holden at 4.43am in Weebar Rd and both vehicles sped off at a fast rate. An attempt was made to intercept the Mazda vehicle in Ronalds Crt.
The Mazda was then seen travelling west in Lardner Rd towards Lardners Trk. A second police unit attempted to intercept the vehicle at the Lardners Trk intersection.
However, the vehicle evaded police and was last seen approaching the freeway interchange at Drouin East.
The Mazda had been reported stolen from Newborough.
The same vehicle, with registration AII263 was reported to be involved in a petrol drive-off at the BP service station in Newborough later that day.
