Major building projects are starting to take shape in Warragul's sporting precinct in Burke St.
A new $11 million stadium at the Warragul Leisure Centre and the $2.9 million soccer pavilion refurbishment at Baxter Park are significantly progressing.
The stadium build is moving from the slab to frame stage, with all steel framing expected to be installed this week.
Leisure centre users are eagerly watching the building works, with the new stadium to provide two additional indoor courts for basketball and netball to cater for growing demand.
Spectator seating and lounge viewing area, new café and kitchen, referee changeroom, first aid room, storage facilities, swim club store and public amenities are included in the development.
There will also be improved pedestrian links and parking access between the new stadium and existing two-court facility.
Baw Baw Shire Council reported recent works included pouring the slab for the second floor mezzanine. With that completed, steel for the second floor will continue to go up.
The steel is already up for the first court and the slab down. The upright concrete slab panels are also up for the stairs on both sides.
The work to pour the slab for the second court is underway, with steel installation to follow.
The stadium is located at the back of the Warragul Leisure Centre, adjacent to Spring St.
Works began in January with the aim of completion in mid-2024.
Frame work is now completed for the soccer pavilion refurbishment.
In addition, the shire said the new roof was installed and electrical works had begun.
Over the coming weeks, windows and plaster works will take place.
The refurbished pavilion will feature female-friendly and official changerooms, club office/administration area, storage, first aid room, spectator toilets and cleaners' room.
There also will be a pitch lighting upgrade and carpark improvements.
The building works, following a 2021 synthetic pitch upgrade, began in early February and are expected to be completed by March 2024.
