Locals don't have to travel far to find some of the best pub parmas that can be found anywhere in Victoria.
According to a panel of "expert judges" that have put hotel meals to "a rigorous taste test", some of the best parmas can be found at the Drouin Family Hotel, Royal Hotel at Drouin and the Poowong Hotel.
The judges have chosen them among 25 finalists from which 10 will be chosen to receive the Australian Hotels Association's "Parma of the Year" title to be announced as part of its State Excellence Awards on May 15.
The two hotels at Drouin and Poowong's only hotel have also been nominated as finalists in a number of other award categories.
The Drouin Family Hotel is also in the running for best family dining, regional gaming venue, all abilities hotel and outstanding achievement in training awards.
The Royal Hotel and Poowong Hotel are both finalists in the best pub bar category with the Poowong pub also a contender for the title of best regional dining.
Cook, Beaumont and Partners that owns and operates the Drouin Family Hotel among 18 hotels in the state is short-listed in the best hotel operator category.
As well as winners of the various categories the AHA will announce its winners of the people's choice and the best overall hotel awards.
