Session to hear about coal transition

A researcher's thoughts on what the future could look like after transitioning from the use of brown coal will feature at an open meeting at Yarragon later this month.

Organised by the Baw Baw Sustainability Network the session will be led by placed-based sustainability researcher Associate Professor Dr Jess Reeves.
The theme of her presentation will be what "a just and sustainable transition" for Central Gippsland, that engages with community, looks like.
Dr Reeves explores the evolving relationship between humans and their environment, examining industrial impacts, long-term landscape changes and the role of community voices in environmental stewardship.
As a co-chair of the Resilient Landscapes and Aquatic Ecosystems research theme within the Future Regions Research Centre Dr Reeves has been undertaking research in Gippsland over the past six years.
She serves on the Gippsland Lakes Coordinating Committee and has contributed to the Gippsland Climate Change Adaptation Plan.
She also collaborates with several environmental and sustainability study groups in Europe.
Bookings are essential for the Yarragon event on Thursday, March 27, at the Yarragon Uniting Church hall from 7pm to 9 pm.
