Drouin Secondary College recently hosted a Hospitality Employment Expo in collaboration with local businesses and TAFE Gippsland's Skills and Jobs Centre.
With the ripple effects of COVID leaving many hospitality businesses struggling to find staff and young people feeling some anxiety about applying for jobs, the event was designed to bridge the gap and bring employers together with young people.
The Skills and Jobs Centre supported students, helping them to develop their resumes and preparing them to talk to employers. At the event employers had an opportunity to meet young people, with the potential to hire them and begin to prepare for the busy Christmas rush.
The event was a successful one, as close to 60 resumes were forwarded from students to local hospitality employers.
