A review of ward boundaries in Cardinia Shire has begun.
A preliminary report for which public submissions are invited will be available on the Victorian Electoral Commission website from tomorrow.
In Baw Baw Shire, a review of its boundaries is already underway with submissions on the preliminary report due by March 6 and a final report made to the Minister for Local Government on April 10.
The reviews are conducted to account for population changes within a local government area with boundaries set based on a maximum variation of plus or minus 10 per cent on the number of voters per councillor.
Cardinia has nine wards each represented by one councillor.
The VEC says that as of last November Cardinia had 91,941 voters on the roll, an average of just over 10,200 per councillor.
On the current boundaries the numbers range from 9019 to 14,080.
Submissions can be lodged until March 20 with the final report to be sent to the minister on April 24.
Baw Baw Shire has nine councillors in three wards.
The reviews cannot change the number of councillors elected in each shire.
The next local government elections in Victoria are due in October.
