Overgrown vacant residential blocks in Baw Baw Shire will be targeted by Baw Baw Shire council during the fire danger period.
Last week council sent a letter of direction to an owner of two overgrown and adjoining vacant blocks in Drouin requiring grass and weeds almost 1.5 metres high be cut and removed by next Friday.
Responding to complaints by nearby residents that also highlighted the overgrown state of the nature strip, with grass spreading across the footpath preventing its use by people with prams or using walking aids, council's open maintenance staff mowed the area and cleared the footpath.
Council emphasised it was the owners' responsibility to ensure residential blocks were well maintained and clear of long grass.
