A life saving defibrillator stolen from Drouin's main shopping strip has been replaced.
A new machine to replace one disappeared from its location on a wall at the front of the Hong Kong Inn last year has been installed by Drouin Rotary Club after its success in obtaining a community grant from Baw Baw Shire council to meet the cost.
However, rather than locating it again outside the premises the defibrillator has been installed in a more secure location in the restaurant's foyer.
Rotary president Roger Playdon said the club, that has installed defibrillators at a number of locations in Drouin, intended to eventually raise funds for a replacement machine but the shire grant had enabled it to be provided much earlier.
He said the importance of the equipment had been demonstrated already with one of defibrillators funded by the club known to have saved a life.
Others in the town can be found at local supermarkets, businesses, sporting clubs and the Rotary club's barbecue trailer.
