Drouin Rotarian Don Kelly (centre), pictured with coordinators of the regional schools cross country championship Angela Burke and Bill Rilen, headed a group of six clubs members that had the big task of managing traffic that brought 700 people to the event staged at Drouin golf course.
Several Drouin Rotarians played a big part in the successful staging of School Sport Victoria's regional cross country championship around the Drouin golf course.
Don Kelly, one of the team of six Rotarians managing the traffic - some 300 cars, 36 mini-busses and four coaches - said the task was carried out "with no fuss" and it was great to see the enthusiasm and excitement of the youngsters from across Gippsland.
They did the job so well that the event's coordinators asked if they could do a return performance next year; same time, same place.
About 700 students and family members, as well as school staff, were at the event.
Primary school students travelled in private cars with family members, while the secondary students usually arrive in buses. Those from Bairnsdale stated the bus had left their town at 6am.
