A residential subdivision has failed to gain the support of Baw Baw Shire, with councillors identifying the loss of trees a major grounds for refusal.
While developers have already taken their application to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, council will indicate it's intention to refuse the application.
Planners recommended the matter be approved but Crs Tricia Jones and Danny Goss successfully moved an alternative motion to refuse the application on several grounds, stating the proposal was inconsistent with and did not respect the "treed character values of Drouin."
Cr Jones said if approved, a "beautiful treed parcel of land will be lost forever."
