Recruits needed for fire brigade

Warragul Fire Brigade is calling for new recruits in preparation for the fire season.
There are limited spots available. However, those who do sign up are provided with the training and skills required to commence firefighting roles and additional support roles.
To be eligible, applicants must hold a current driver's licence, be eligible to obtain a Working with Children's Check, be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, have a National Police Check and live in the Warragul area. Daytime availability is preferred but is not essential.
Brigade captain Tyler Hogan encouraged people of all ages and backgrounds to submit an application.
"It's open to any sort of age, 18 and over," he said.
"The brigade is made up of a mixture of young and older people, whether that b young students or retirees - anyone can get involved."
He said while they are looking primarily for people interested in firefighting in order to prepare for fire season, there are other volunteering roles.
"Non-operational roles are available as well... things like assisting with fundraising, community engagement, recruitment, equipment maintenance and servicing and other administrative duties," he said.
"We are especially targeting firies at the moment... if you can't commit to being a firefighter or operational we do have those non-operational roles that you might find yourself available to assist with."
He said training is provided and is a mixture of theory and practical training.
"It's a time commitment for evenings and some weekends," he said.
