The annual charity golf day at Warragul in support of the West Gippsland Hospital and Warragul and District Specialist School raised a record amount earlier this month.
Held for the 10th year the event raised $36,000.
Organised through a partnership between the Drouin, Trafalgar and Neerim branches of the Bendigo community banks and hosted by Warragul Country Club the action on the golf course during the afternoon was capped off by a dinner, presentation of trophies, fundraising auction, raffle and entertainment by vocalist Jess Walsh.
West Gippsland Healthcare Group interim chief executive officer Shannon Wight described the money raised by the volunteers, players and the community that run the day as outstanding.
She made special mention of the women's golf club at Warragul that separately raised $500 this year.
Ms Wight pointed out that the money enabled the hospital to buy vital equipment not covered by government funding.
Over the past two years it had paid for four new trolley stretchers for the emergency department and had previously enabled respirators, ventilators, vital signs monitors, pressure mattresses and an electrocardiogram machine to be bought.
It also was important for the Specialist School with whom the hospital has a special relationship through its paediatric services, Ms Wight said.
