Prayer group welcome

Warragul Police member Senior Constable Rana Khan attended a new prayer group for the local Muslim community recently.
The group is run by the Gippsland Australian Muslim Community (GAMCI) and is held at Warragul Community House on a Friday afternoon.
The prayer session runs for 30 to 45 minutes.
Snr Const Khan said the group initially had concerns about the wider community's reaction to their meetings.
As a member of the Muslim community, and as a Warragul Police member for about three years, Sen Const Khan said he was able to relieve many of their concerns.
He said in his experience Baw Baw Shire community members were "very welcoming", and encouraged members of the group to report any concerns they have to local police.
Snr Const Khan speaks Hindu, Urdu and Punjabi, and is available at Warragul Police Station. Warragul Police Station also has Senior Constable Victor Narroo, who speaks French.
