Investigations into hall's future continue

The next steps to address building defects at Warragul Exhibition Hall are set to be decided in April.
The hall was suddenly closed in mid-December after being deemed a public safety hazard.
Temporary fencing went up, all bookings cancelled until further notice and internal bracing installed.
However, with noticeable cracks in the brickwork at the front of the Howitt St building, further external bracing was installed last month.
Baw Baw Shire community infrastructure director Ben Wood said concerns were mostly around external walls and an internal ceiling, with initial bracing works undertaken to "prevent further wall displacement from occurring."
"External bracing was erected in January following further detailed direction council received from structural engineers," Mr Wood said.
He said engineering reports had been received and council was currently working through the findings.
"A report will be presented to council in the coming months detailing options and works required to rectify the building defects," Mr Wood said. "The report is anticipated to be tabled at council in April."
The hall, with a history dating back to the 1940s, had been due for a $25,000 cladding upgrade. This project is now on-hold.
The closure shut down Warragul Playgroup, one of two regular users of the Warragul Exhibition Hall. Warragul Playgroup has utilised the building since the mid-1980s.
The Warragul Exhibition Hall was initially constructed as a poultry exhibition space for use during agricultural shows at the adjoining Warragul showgrounds, becoming known as "the chook shed".
The building was redeveloped in 1973 to its current form, comprising of a community hall space capable of accommodating 500 people, an elevated stage and catering facilities.
It has been historically used for community meetings, public performances, social dances, VCE examinations, deb balls and public exhibitions, including during the Warragul show.
At a council meeting in October 2022, Baw Baw Shire councillors requested officers take steps to improve utilisation of the hall.
