New role for Farnham

Member for Narracan Wayne Farnham has been appointed shadow parliamentary secretary to Opposition leader John Pesutto.
Mr Pesutto announced the new role for Mr Farnham on Thursday, saying he would bring "tremendous energy and experience" to the position as the Liverals and Nationals continued their focus on listening to Victorians.
"Wayne was elected as the Member for Narracan at a supplementary election in January and has decades of experience as a builder and engaging with local communities in regional Victoria.
"I congratulate and welcome Wayne to our team and look forward to the strong contribution he will make over the coming years," he said.
Mr Farnham said the role was basically an assistant to the opposition leader.
Unlike shadow parliamentary secretary roles that were portfolio specific, he said his position would be quite broad.
"It gives me an opportunity to advocate more strongly for regional Victoria and their infrastructure needs," he said.
Mr Farnham said the role would enable him to work closely with Mr Pesutto in developing policies to benefit regional areas.
"It was a surprise but I will certainly embrace the opportunity. He (Mr Pesutto) is keen to build a strong team around him and that's important," he said.
