New platforms not the answer

Newly appointed shadow minister for public transport Matthew Guy and Member for Narracan Wayne Farnham visited Bunyip train station last Monday, accusing the State Government of "mismanaging" the Gippsland railway line upgrade.

The upgrade to the Gippsland line is set to enable V/Line trains to run between Traralgon and Melbourne every 40 minutes between peak hours. Recently, Regional Rail Victoria confirmed that a full duplication of track between the Longwarry and Bunyip train stations and an upgrade to the Bunyip River bridge, was no longer a part of the Gippsland Line upgrade. Instead, the new platforms at the two stations will provide more opportunities for trains to pass each other and reduce waiting times.
