Melva Blackley and David Mitchell joined Drouin Rotary Club last month.
They were inspired to join by the Rotarians they had met, the opportunity to meet and network with new people and the opportunity to get involved with the diversity of projects and activities of the club.
Melva, daughter of the club's third-longest serving member Don Blackley, was raised and educated in Drouin before moving to Melbourne for higher education and employment. She and her husband recently returned to Drouin and she now seeks to re-engage with her home community, including through community service.
David and his wife recently purchased a property in Drouin and after settling-in sought greater engagement and involvement. He was introduced to the club by the second-longest serving member Dick van Leeuwen.
President Mike Kelleher, also relatively new to the local community, welcomed the new members and said that enthusiasm and ideas helped to keep the club and its members active and involved.
