New drinking water trailer ready for emergencies

A new water trailer to provide drinking water in emergencies is now available in Gippsland.

Gippsland Water's managing director Sarah Cumming said the trailer could be deployed to communities when regular water services were disrupted due to extreme weather, prolonged power outages and bushfires.
She said the trailer, with the Drink Gippy Tap branding, ensures communities have timely local access to drinking water while services were restored. It has a capacity of up to 2000 litres of water and is equipped with four taps to enable multiple containers to be filled at the same time.
Staff members will accompany the trailer and be available to help residents fill drink bottles and other water containers.
During emergencies, Ms Cumming said it was one way that Gippsland Water could provide valuable support to communities when needed most.
