Warragul resident Farhat Firdous took her seat in the Baw Baw Shire council chamber for her first meeting on Wednesday night.
The new Central Ward councillor was sworn in at a ceremony ahead of last week's council meeting.
Cr Firdous said she was dedicated to serving the Baw Baw Shire community.
