"Never underestimate the power of strong, clever and connected rural women."
That was the message of ABC Landline presenter Pip Courtney when she addressed the Farm World Women in Agriculture luncheon on Friday and it was a message reinforced by rare breeds pig farmer Katy Brown's strength and will to survive in agriculture.
The luncheon was initiated by event patron Angela Betheras, winner of the 2011 Victorian Agri-futures Rural Woman of the Year award, to celebrate the significant contribution of women in agricultural communities.
