Netballers hit the courts

After a long wait, Gulls and Dusties netballers have returned "home" to Western Park.
The $1.6 million netball development, incorporating a new pavilion and two refurbished courts, has been eagerly awaited by the two Warragul clubs who share the facilities.
"The courts are incredible, they are so good," Warragul Industrials netballer Chelsea Commadeur said.
After being forced to play separately at Burke St for the past two seasons, Warragul A grade co-coach Renee Nobelius said "it's nice to be with the footy again".
It was a sentiment echoed by Dusties netball president Nikki Beilharz who said it had been hard for families and partners split between two venues.
"It's just really exciting to finally be back down there," she said.
Baw Baw Shire councillor Danny Goss said the project was late being delivered after issues arose due to it being an old tip site.
"But it's done and it's brilliant," Cr Goss said on social media. "This is a project that is dear to my heart."
He also praised both clubs for listening to advice and knocking councillors over with their advocacy skills.
The courts are yet to be officially opened but training has begun and a practice match between the two clubs is being organised.
It comes as councillors voted to name the new facility "Liza Pharaoh Pavilion" on Wednesday night in recognition of the late Warragul Industrials' life member and games record holder who died after a long illness in 2021.
Ms Beilharz said it would mean a great deal to the Dusties netballers to take to the court under Liza's name.
