National accolade for Royal Hotel

Following on from success at the Australian Hotels Association state awards for excellence earlier this year, The Royal Hotel, Drouin had more to celebrate last week, taking home the title of "Best Bistro Regional" at the AHA national awards.

Proprietors Danny and Rachael Murnane said they were "completely blown away" by the result.
"We're very much in shock at the moment," Mr Murnane said. "When our name got called out, we just couldn't believe it."
The "Best Bistro Regional" award recognises excellence in venues offering a quality dining experience through a general pub bistro.
Mr Murnane said the hotel's friendly service and high-quality produce on offer contributed to the win.
"Our staff are some of the best," Mr Murnane said. "They've worked so hard for this. Each year when you go in these (awards), they give you critiques and show you how you can do better. Our staff have really stepped up to the plate and done better."
"We've got some awesome produce here in Gippsland. We're very grateful to them for giving us good food."
Taking over The Royal Hotel three years ago, the Murnanes said they loved providing a positive dining experience for the community.
"We just love serving people food, having them come here for birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations," Mr Murnane said.
"People come to the pub to meet other people and be with family and it's just good to give them the best service and give them a good time. That's what we're really grateful for and that's why we do it."
