Mobile phone interruptions at Neerim

Telstra's mobile phone services in the Neerim area are facing disruptions this month.
Service will not be available while Telstra upgrades its mobile base station at Neerim South to provide for the advanced G5 network.
Regional general manager for Eastern Victoria Jenny Gray said no Telstra mobile services would be available from February 18 to 21.There would be intermittent disruptions on Saturday, February 22, and from Monday, February 24 until Friday, February 28.
The work will not affect landline and National Broadband Network services or mobile coverage by other providers.
Ms Gray said Telstra mobile customers would receive text messages alerting them to any disruptions.
However, users can still make and receive calls and texts during the periods without normal service by accessing Wi-Fi Calling, a free setting available on most phones.
Ms Gray said businesses were being encouraged to discuss with their banks about connecting their EFTOS terminals to NBN or Wi-Fi to prevent delays in processing transactions.
The work by Telstra continues its upgrades to its network in the Baw Baw Shire area to increase capacity, provide more consistent speeds and enable smoother streaming and faster download times.
It will also boost the performance of the existing 4G network.
