The Liberal Party's candidate for Monash in the next Federal election due in 2025 will be decided on Sunday.
Long serving Federal Member of Parliament Russell Broadbent is being challenged by Mary Aldred of Warragul and Nathan Hersey of Loch.
The three candidates will line-up at the pre-selection vote this Sunday.
Mr Broadbent was first elected to the seat (formerly known as McMillan) in 1996. He lost the seat to the ALP's Christian Zahra in 1998.
At the 2004 election Mr Broadbent was returned in McMillan and has retained the seat, renamed Monash in 2019, at every election since.Ms Aldred has an extensive record working with business in Gippsland and beyond, holding senior executive roles in both private and public sectors as well as serving on a number of boards and government advisory committees.
Early this year she took up appointment as head of government relations (Asia Pacific) for Fujitsu Australia.
Mr Hersey was elected to South Gippsland Shire in 2021 and is the current mayor of South Gippsland Shire.
His background is in farming in Gippsland and as an adviser to Federal members of parliament and a government ministers.
Pre-selection nominations closed in June.
The next election is due to be held by May 2025 unless the government calls it earlier.
The seat, for many years regarded as a safe Liberal seat, is now held by Mr Broadbent with a 2.9 per cent margin following a 6.9 per cent swing against the party at last year's federal election.
