Legendary volunteers thanked

About 30 Garfield and district volunteers were recently thanked and acknowledged for the work they do within their local communities at a lunch at the Iona Hotel, Garfield.
The lunch was sponsored by the Garfield Community Op Shop.
John Preston and Greg Howson, who were part of the organising committee hosted the afternoon introductions by calling on some of the "legends" to speak about their involvement with local district organisations.
The afternoon concluded with a poem by acclaimed local poet Gerard Cunningham reciting "My Country," a poem by Dorothea Mackellar, an Australian poet best known for her patriotic poem which vividly captures the beauty and harshness of the Australian landscape.
