Landcare grants now open

Local volunteer environmental groups have a fortnight to apply for this year's Victorian Landcare Grants.
Member of Eastern Victoria and shadow minister for public land management Melina Bath said it was a great opportunity for local volunteers to receive up to $20,000 to implement community based environmental projects.
"They are an excellent opportunity for our local volunteers to implement community based environmental projects aimed at improving biodiversity," Ms Bath said.
"By backing hands-on projects and fostering community involvement through grants we can improve our parks, waterways, and reserves for the enjoyment of future generations."
Funding is available for a range of woks.They included for on-ground works such as revegetation, habitat creation, weed, pest and animal control, fencing and soil stabilisation.
Funds are also available for community education and engagement and group and network development such as strategic planning and expanding the volunteer base.
Closing date for applications is April 16 with more information and application details available at environment.vic.gov.au/grants
