Kurnai culture day to build community knowledge

A Kurnai Culture Day will be held in Warragul on December 3 to assist community understanding of the purpose of treaties being proposed in Victoria.
It is part of a series of forums planned over the next 12 months by Eastern Region Community Advocacy, Kurnai Elders and Trafalgar Stand in the Park and follows an initial forum in Warragul earlier this month.
The culture day centred on Kurnai peoples will give members of the public an understanding of their history, language, tribes and places where they lived and how they differed from other tribal groups.
The event to be held at the Fountain Room at the West Gippsland Arts Centre will include examples of crafts, the screening of videos and questions and answer sessions.
