The Wiggles, Bluey, Bingo, Maverick, Iceman, a number of characters from Dr Seuss and Lord of The Rings as well as Elvis Presley were all in attendance at Jindivick Primary School on Thursday as the Variety Club Bash stopped in to visit.
While they were all only impersonators, students at the school were thrilled to see some of their favourite characters from movies and TV visit who were on route from Phillip Island to Benalla on day two of the annual fundraiser.
The Bash is the largest fundraiser for Victorian charity Variety. This year's event began in Melbourne last Wednesday and will end on the Gold Coast this Thursday (August 24) after traversing much of Victoria, New South Wales and parts of Queensland.
Variety strives to raise money to help all children reach their full potential regardless of their abilities or background. The bash is run for the charity by the charity and money is raised to assist sick or disadvantaged or have additional specific needs.
Principal Wendy Arnott and the students were thrilled to be presented with a number of Lego sets donated to them by the group on the day.
Wendy said that the buzz created by the visiting convoy was something special. "It's just such a thrill for the community to get together to see what the Bash is all about," she said.
Following their visit to Jindivick Primary School, the convoy gathered in Noojee to make a special grant presentation to two brothers - Oliver and Riley - who face some complex challenges in life.
Variety has raised funds to present Oliver and Riley's family with a Wonderfold W4 LUXE Quad Wagon. The wagon will allow Oliver and Riley's mum Amy to be able to get them and their one year old brother Jasper around town and across different terrain much more easily than what she has been able to.
The special gift will not only enhance the family's mobility but also promote inclusivity in their community. The presentation took place at the Noojee Hotel where Variety Bash participants enjoyed a hearty lunch before their long drive to Benalla through the back hills of Victoria.
