Immersive performance takes centre stage
1 min read

Combining different forms of the arts took centre stage during the school holidays last week when participants in the Paint What You Hear workshops reflected music in their artistic creations.
"Paint What You Hear" is an immersive performance and workshop experience for young people.
The workshops are directed by musician Erica Rasmussen and visual artist Zakiya Kurdi.
The workshops use classical and contemporary music and visual art to engage young people and adults in the arts, encouraging them to respond to live music using painting and drawing.
Participants listen to live musicians and respond to the music exploring lines, shape, colour and their imaginations.
Children learn about the elements of music and how to represent sound through artistic expression. The workshops were engaging, fun and messy!
Multiple sessions were held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for different age groups including two to four-years-olds, five to eight-years-olds an d nine to 12 years olds.
The sessions, held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre, proved popular with many sessions being booked out.
The event concluded on Saturday with an art work display workshop.
