Hospital beds head overseas

Patients at hospitals in several overseas countries are the beneficiaries of a project by Koo wee rup-Lang Lang Rotary Club.
Beds, adjustable chairs and other items no longer needed by Koo wee rup Regional Health Service are finding their way to countries in need of such equipment under Rotary's Donations-in-Kind program.
Twenty-two beds made their way to Zimbabwe earlier this year and another 12 beds will soon make their way overseas, probably to Pacific nations, in the latest consignment.
A team of volunteers from the Rotary club loaded the equipment onto the truck of Rudy DeJong for transport to Melbourne ahead of being freighted overseas.
Adopting the Rotary International theme "Rotary in Action", members saw the opportunity of securing the beds and other items as one not to be missed.
This will ultimately save them from going to landfill and put them to a much-needed use.
