After a year that saw increases in grocery prices, bills, mortgages and other cost of living pressures, the Christmas trading period proved optimistic for local businesses. 
While budgets may have been tighter and spending habits altered from previous years, local retailers reported relatively strong levels of trade and community support throughout the holiday season.
